Nearly all gold
production in this county was from placer deposits. Yuba county is a favorite
for many modern day prospectors as it appears to be replenishing at an
extraordinary rate. total production has exceeded 6,000,000 ounces.
The Yuba River has many good gravels
that have shown themselves still to be rich. There exists nearly 8 miles
of potential gravels along the bank of the Yuba River (actually
in Nevada
County).
There exists a number of dredge tailings along the North Huncut
Creek accessible via Dunstone Dr. southeast of Oroville.
Production on the South Yuba River and its tributaries has been
pretty consistent over the years especially in the vicinity of French
Corral.
The Feather River has continued to produce surprisingly well in
spite of the many prospecting efforts ongoing there today.
There are a number of dredge tailings along the Feather River on
the south side of Oroville. A lot of tailings exist along the east side
of Highway 70 which runs parallel to the Feather River.
